‘Makes no sense’! Why is The New Republic touting this ‘one perfect quote’?

Something very honest and intelligent, according to The New Republic:

That is the opposite of a smart take. Women who can articulate their thoughts intelligently can be taken just as seriously as men who do the same.

Where do we start with this? How about here:

Double negative. Makes no sense. https://t.co/2umWmvNpv1 Morons. @tnr @Cosmopolitan @JoannaColes

The "perfect" quote cited by @TNR here actually says the opposite of what they thought was "perfect" about it. https://t.co/2umWmvNpv1

Whoops! And then there’s this part:

@tnr @Cosmopolitan @JoannaColes Men are "allowed" to talk about sports? "Allowed"???

— Malcolm Pollack (@mtpollack) October 14, 2014

@tnr @Cosmopolitan @JoannaColes Allowed?

— Norbert Pinkertwill (@SexMurderArt) October 14, 2014

What’s the deal with that?

@tnr @Cosmopolitan @JoannaColes Double negative aside: "taken seriously" by whom? We can each "take seriously" whatever we choose to.

— Malcolm Pollack (@mtpollack) October 14, 2014

Yep. And we choose not to take Coles or TNR seriously.

We definitely made the right call.

@tnr @Cosmopolitan @JoannaColes Won't be taking this seriously.

Women are worried about being taken seriously? Free tip, don't say crap like this: pic.twitter.com/N7HahPKwi2 @tnr @Cosmopolitan @joannacoles
